Hireco win first contract with Gregory Distribution

New trailers will meet increased customer demand

Gregory Distribution, one of the largest privately owned transport companies, working from 30 sites across the UK, has placed its first order for new trailers with Hireco to meet increased customer demand for its services.

The order, for 38 SDC curtainsiders on contract hire, follows 11 new SDC builds taken from Hireco earlier in the year on spot hire.

“The new trailers were needed to service increased customer orders including new contract tender wins. We have been extremely busy throughout 2020 and we have seen opportunities as major companies review their logistics requirements.”

He said Hireco had won the order based on its ability to provide the trailers quickly and at a competitive price. He said: “We were pleased with Hireco’s approach and now we look forward to building a partnership through a clear demonstration of the back-up service Hireco can provide.”

Gregory Distribution has 1,000 vehicles and 2,000 trailers, of which over 300 are temperature controlled.

Andy Graham, Sales Manager for Hireco, said the contract for the new curtainsider trailers was Gregory Distribution’s first lease of vehicles with Hireco. “We are delighted to be partnering with Gregory,” he said.

He added: “We were able to provide a business solution for Gregory Distribution and move quickly because we had availability of curtainsider trailers to the right specification in our system.”

Founded in the South West in 1919, Gregory Distribution meets the specialist needs of a diverse customer base which includes food (frozen and ambient), packaging, retail, drinks and it is also one of the largest operators in the UK dairy industry with 100 tankers involved in milk collection and processing.

Gregory Distribution’s 400-plus customers range from local companies in its native South West region, to large, multi-national organisations.

After more than 40 years, Hireco is much more than trucks and trailers. The company’s success has been built on establishing partnerships with its customers, for example, its ability to provide a range of innovative finance packages.

As leaders in the commercial leasing and finance marketplace, Hireco provides clients with expertly sourced assets, cost-effective financing, full maintenance management, efficient disposal and secure parking facilities, underpinned by outstanding customer service.

Hireco now operates more than 7,000 assets around the UK and Ireland; 70 percent of which are supplied to the country’s top 100 transport companies, often on bespoke contracts of three to ten years. One of the company’s trademarks is the age of its fleet, which is one of the youngest in the business.

Hireco also has a Light Commercial Vehicle division which combines years of experience and knowledge in vehicle hire to provide a complete solution bespoke to each customer’s requirement.

Hireco is the biggest buyer of new fleet vehicles in the UK, a position it has held for the last five years. At the heart of its fierce growth is a loyal customer base, ranging from smaller owner operator businesses to multinational 3PLs.
