Woodland Logistics turns to Hireco for flexibility and customer service
A need for a business partner that could move quickly, with a flexible, forward-thinking and hassle-free approach has helped Woodland Logistics place two of its largest ever contracts with Hireco.
The contracts are for 25 curtainsiders and 6 flatbeds as well as multiple trailers on rental terms.
Woodland Logistics are part of Woodland Group, one of the largest, independently owned global logistics companies headquartered in the UK, and run more than 270 assets, ranging from small vans through to HGV’s.
Sean Kirby, Managing Director of Woodland Logistics Limited, said the company had used Hireco previously for ad hoc trailer hire.
He commented: “The challenges posed in the early part of 2020 made it clear that we needed a business to partner with that was flexible and could move and adapt with us quickly. We had no doubt that Hireco was the right partner.”
Mr Kirby shared that under the new contracts, Hireco provides Woodland with a full management package, which includes both maintenance and tyre provision.
Woodland operate from an HQ in Chelmsford, Essex, and operate from 11 other UK locations but also have numerous offices across the USA managed out of the US Head Office in Nassau County, New York, and an Asia Head Office in Hong Kong. Major customers such as Cepac, Naylor Industries and Millbank Concrete Products reflect Woodland Logistics’ strong presence in transporting both packaging and building materials.
An unexpected, strong demand for logistics solutions during the height of the pandemic had come from packaging products, as well as delivery of toilet rolls in line with media reports of consumers stockpiling. After the initial shut down of the construction sector, the transportation of building products has now also rebounded, Mr Kirby shared.
“2020 has been one of the toughest years in my time in logistics, especially with the new challenges of managing a work force now based at home as well as managing a fleet of vehicles and drivers.”, Mr Kirby added.
