Hireco specifies BPW equipment for 1,200-strong trailer order

Trailer rental business Hireco has placed its largest order to date, specifying all 1,200-plus trailers on BPW axle and suspension systems with Eco Plus 3 drum brakes.

The order, totalling 1,265 units, is for a mix of trailer types from several manufacturers.

SDC is supplying 650 curtainsiders and box vans; Dennison is building 265 flat skeleton trailers; Lawrence David is providing 200 pillar-less trailers, with a further 100 from Tiger; and Gray & Adams is supplying 50 refrigerated units.

On the decision to specify BPW for the entire order, Hireco’s managing director James Smith (pictured) says: “By specifying BPW axles, our trailer lifecycle has benefited massively, reducing running costs, improving customer demand and used values.

“The BPW partnership has developed over the last eight years, and we have been very pleased with the product and the reactions to any issues that occur. We believe in service levels and the level of service we experience is of the highest order.”

The new trailers are also equipped with BPW’s telematics systems. Smith says: “The latest tech really does give customers the ability to improve their asset utilisation, and it also improves uptime. As maintenance providers, we can tap into the trailer and understand upcoming issues before they arise.”

BPW will be exhibiting at next month’s Commercial Vehicle Show (24-26 April; NEC, Birmingham).
