Demonstrators promote new TK Advancer order

Hireco, the biggest buyer of new fleet vehicles in the UK, has announced a major order for new Thermo King Advancer refrigerated trailers which offer outstanding fuel efficiency and reduced emissions.

The trailers will be available from May, 2022.

In the meantime, Hireco is running two demonstrator trailers on UK motorways with the bold message on the side: “This trailer saves up to 1.5 litres of diesel per hour – that’s a reduction of over 3.7 kgs of CO2 per hour.”

Scott McMinigle, Head of Fleet for Hireco, said the estimated significant fuel savings from the new trailers was one of the two major factors behind the order of 100 trailers. The other benefit, he said, was the significant CO2 emission savings, 50 percent less than the maximum allowed by latest NRMM Stage V emission standards.

Mr McMinigle said the increase in fuel price as a result of the rebate on red diesel being withdrawn will have a major impact on overall running costs. “However, the introduction of the new TK trailers offers Advancer’s proven fuel saving performance.”

The new TK Advancer trailers are 45-foot long and have a load capacity of 26 pallets.

The trailers are fitted with inbuilt telematics to monitor closely the up-to-date fuel usage and show how greater fuel savings are being made.

Mr McMinigle said major supermarket groups, in particular, were looking to make fuel and emission savings. He described Hireco’s order of TK Advancers as “an important statement of our intent to make an environmental impact.”

Hireco currently operates over 7000 assets around the UK and Ireland; 70 percent of which are supplied to the country’s top 100 transport companies, often on bespoke contracts of three to ten years.
